Today we put on our bug spray, packed our backpacks and headed out to the forest for a nice hike.
We learned that the forest is full of God's gifts to us.
We looked at 4 different types of wood.
We explored each type by touching, looking, and smelling.
We saw growth rings, and the different layers of bark.
We found out that trees not only provide shelter for creatures, but they also help provide shelter for people.
Everyone was super surprised to find out that paper comes from trees.
We made our own paper by recycling.
The product of blending old paper and natural pulp( from trees and cotton) is new paper!
We experimented with recycling some colorful papers.
The most fun of paper making is the mixing!
We also found out what happens when you mix red and blue!
Time to press and dry.
The piece on the right is ours!
We had a very successful day of paper making!
We even got really good and added flower petals to our pulp mixture.
I don't think playing in a tent ever gets old!
A break in the rain let us play in the river.
To end our day we worked with more sorting.
We sorted the sticks that we brought from home.
We looked closely at our sticks...
And then turned them into art!
During centers today, we found this little group acting out Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
They did a great job working together!
