Olympics Day1

Today we set the stage for an epic week of Olympic adventures.
We studied our place in the world and learned that our way is not the only way.  We read a book that shows how children all over the world go about their day. Then we talked about how The Olympics are an occasion for people from all over the world to come together with one common focus.

We watched the opening ceremonies and torch lighting for the London Olympics, then we had our own torch relay.

We played pass the torch,

and the winner got to light the Olympic flame for the Sunshine Games 2016!

Look at their faces!  What IS she doing???

To further our celebration, we made firework art!

The  we settled in to the Olympic Village.

We learned that the Olympic rings take their colors from the flags of the original countries that participated in the Olympics!

We snacked on Olympic torches!

Then we made signs to help us cheer on the USA when the Olympics begin later this summer!
